Damn you Ken Block for being awesome. Ford picked up Ken and is moving him out of the states and into the WRC. I don’t know why Subaru couldn’t have done this but thanks for Ford for stepping up.
Well for the first time since 2004 I no longer own a Subaru and don’t have plans to buy another. :( We sold Robin’s Outback in favor of owning a cheaper car outright. We only lost $36 on the sale so I think we walked away in good shape. I’ve already bought my self a car to drive and Robin will start driving the F-150.
I will miss those toruquey little flat 4s. Time for a new brand. Welcome the little Mazda Protege MP3 to garage.
I’m about done with Twitter. At first I thought it may just be that I follow to many people so I took a bunch off. Then maybe it was that it was so unorganized so I started using tweet deck to keep everything in line. Then I realized the truth. It’s useless.
Now it may be fun to know what Lance Armstrong is doing but I only really cared during the Tour. The rest of the time it is just him making me feel bad for not riding my bike enough. And in the end I only really care about my friends and family. I have all of them on Facebook and it is just easier for me to keep tabs on people thru Facebook.
I would love to find a compelling reason to keep using Twitter, but at this point it is just a useless bunch of thoughts that I can’t waste time putting into my head. So in the end anyone that follows me on Twitter.com\Crumpacker and that cares should move over to my Facebook.com\Crumpacker page :)
Monday – Figured out what parts and where to buy them
Tuesday – Ordered new Tokico blues shocks/strus, AWR Endlinks rear, Sway bar bushings all around, new brake pads
Friday (today) - I jacked it up and put it on stands and took the wheels off and turned on the heater in garage. When I get home from work I will tear the suspension down and get it ready for all the new parts tomorrow.
BTW I’ve only driven this car 24 miles. Hope I can get some driving done this weekend.
Future,
- New tires next week, gotta go somehting decent but all season.
- Refinish the wheels in spring when the paint will work.
- Swap out the crappy Pioneer that the previous owner had and put in my Kenwood head unit.
- New motor mounts and short shifter and bushings.
- Build out a CarPuter off my neglectied Netbook.
- Make a shift light using my new arduino skills Error: You must go to the admin section and set your Picasa Web Album Username in the Options section.
So I’m not sure why this is thought to be so hard. Really from my point of view you have to be a real asshole to screw this part of the game up. That baby is so cute (even if you had an ugly baby I’m sure you would think it is cute) that you can’t help but want to make it happy. It has very basic needs; comfort, food, clean diapers.
Now I will admit I think I got lucky in having a quiet calm baby that only gets fussy a few times a day and it only takes a bit of food or a new diaper to get her back to happy baby mode. But really sharing the load with the wife and just doing my part is easier then most people make it out to be. Now I’ll admit I read none of the books so maybe I’m missing some of the finer points but she is healthy and happy.
I’m more scared at this point for the teaching her stuff phase. The part where you are really sculpting that little person for the rest of their life. Now that is the hard part. I will miss sleepless night feeding a baby at that point.
So Robin had a doctor’s appointment yesterday. They said that they will give her another week to come naturally then next week they will schedule a time to induce her. I can’t wait to meet my new baby girl. So far all I’ve had is a belly to look at and some static filled black and white pictures. I want a living, breathing, screaming little ball of joy already.
BTW We’ve set up a blog for her. lizcrumpacker.com That is where we will post most of the good news and the pictures and what not. Also during the labor and all that I will be live bloging it to twitter.com/babycrump (all twitter posts on there will show up on here in a weekly digest)
It’s amazing how much technology I use and moreover depend on in my day to day life. I can’t even imagine not having a cell phone at all times. Right now I’m re-watching the Sopranos, in the first 2 seasons no one had cell phones… that wasn’t that long ago. Just trying to imagine what my life would be like if I could only reach people while they where at home or work. No, “I’m on may way home. What do you want to do for dinner?” conversations etc. If you where away from your house and you needed to make a call you needed to find a payphone and have change on you.
Really this wasn’t that long ago, and lets not even get into the internet. I’m having BBS flashbacks already.
So this evening I decided I wanted to try out a CIBA group ride. Those guys where WAY serious. I started out trying to hang with the lead pack. Right out of the gate the pack was averaging about 23mph. I kept that going for about 6 miles. Then I fell back and rode by myself for a while before another group of riders That had left a bit later caught up to me. I joined them and we averaged around 20-21 mph. It was my first time in a regimented pace line. I really enjoyed it but I need to learn some of the “etiquette” of riding with more serious riders.
In the end, I really enjoyed the ride. I loved the speed. I don’t love how sore I am from a crappy seat and no break in a 29 mile ride.
So I’ve put together a bike ride with friends and co-workers. It is 32 miles thru Hendricks county starting at my house. The first half is just straight flat country roads. My wife will be in Pittsboro as a rest stop with drinks and snacks and chairs for us to take a little break. At that point you can go back with her or continue on thru some rolling hills following the White Lick Creek. Here is the route:
Update: Well we ended up not doing this due to the rain, it is postponed. We did however ride the entire length of the Monon trail.
